Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity is proud to share that Bob Dudolski, Iowa ‘91, was recognized by the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) as a recipient of the Outstanding IFC Advisor award. The IFC awards honor councils and individuals who make a lasting, positive impact on fraternity while exemplifying NIC standards.
Hailing from Sumner, Iowa, Bob joined the Iota Sigma chapter at the University of Iowa in 1991, ultimately setting him on a path of exemplary leadership. Brother Dudolski completed his undergraduate degree in music education at Wartburg College, and went on to earn his master’s degree in education with an emphasis in counseling and student development from Eastern Illinois University.
In the same year he initiated, Bob attended his first Convention in Kansas City, which moved him to be engaged with the Fraternity at a higher level, initially becoming chapter president in 1992. Since then, he’s helped with facilitation of the Leadership Institute and been a chapter advisor for multiple chapters across the country. He also served on the Grand Council from 2001-2008, which included him being the representative for Delta Sigma Phi with the NIC.
“It was a great experience,” he said about his time on the Grand Council. “It was a very interesting time for the fraternity. We were dealing with several different changes, not just with Delta Sig, but with the fraternity and sorority world in general.”
Beyond his own experience, mentors over the years also helped Brother Dudolski become the leader he is today. He fondly remembers the first person he met at the 1991 Convention being former National President Lee Dueringer, Illinois Urbana-Champaign ‘60. The impression Dueringer had on him made him feel welcome as a newer member of the Fraternity.
Other Delta Sigs that influenced Brother Dudolski include John Boma (Illinois Urbana-Champaign ‘80), Louis Ripberger (Purdue ‘74), Dr. Joe Bertolino (East Stroudsburg ‘94), Scott Wiley (SUNY Oswego ‘97), and Chris Northern (UT Austin ‘77). Bob served as the vice president of the Grand Council while Brother Northern was president, and he holds admiration for his time working with him. Beyond Delta Sig, Bob credits Dr. Charles Eberly as someone who helped shape him as a leader. Dr. Eberly was Bob’s master’s degree faculty member and an alumnus of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Brother Dudolski has been working in Fraternity life for 30 years, and feels pride in what he’s been able to achieve and oversee as an IFC leader. He is now the Associate Director for Student Involvement & Engagement at Texas State University, as well as the primary advisor for the school’s Interfraternity Council and Multicultural Greek Council. One of Bob’s proudest achievements is being able to start a Delta Sigma Phi chapter at Texas State in 2016. He feels very ingrained in the chapter, which is coming up on its 10th anniversary.
“We’ve almost doubled the size of our IFC in the past five years, and have continued to see a lot of growth and welcoming new chapters to campus,” he said. “Really leaning into a lot of what makes these fraternities great is our open recruitment modeling… helping the students lean into serving the community and being leaders on campus.”
Bob credits the work the students put in to make their chapters great. This past November, the Texas State IFC collectively raised over 13,000 pounds of food for the Hays County Food Bank, and they aim to increase that number every year.
“The biggest thing for me is the fact that the students were the ones who put me forward to be recognized. I’ve been doing this for 30 years because of the impact that not only hopefully I’ve had on students that have been in fraternities and sororities, but the fact that these students have such an incredible impact on me,” he reflected.
Bob resides in San Marcos, TX.
Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity is proud of Brother Dudolski for his numerous accomplishments, his dedication to service, and his contributions to the mission of fraternity.
