In early December, Boise alumni and undergraduates came together for a spirited night that showcased the strength of Delta Sigma Phi in the Northwest. The event offered more than fellowship. It sparked excitement for what lies ahead.
Executive Director Phil Rodriguez, Illinois State '03, and Senior Philanthropy Chair Tom Cycyota, Illinois at Urbana-Champaign '77, welcomed nearly 30 attendees, including undergraduates from the Iota Theta chapter at Boise State, creating a multigenerational celebration of brotherhood and shared purpose.
Throughout the night, conversations moved easily from stories of campus life to reflections on the Fraternity’s future. Laughter, memories, and the unmistakable sense of brotherhood set the tone. One highlight came when Ted Boam, Idaho ’59, was recognized for holding the lowest pin number among those present. His presence offered a meaningful bridge between Delta Sig’s early decades and the rising generation of members who are shaping the Fraternity today.
The evening reached its peak with Executive Director Rodriguez's presentation on the Next Era of Delta Sigma Phi and the national Founders Day Campaign. For many alumni in the room, it was their first in-depth look at the programs, initiatives, and vision being developed by the Headquarters staff. The response was enthusiastic. More than one attendee remarked simply, “Wow,” capturing the excitement and pride sparked by the progress underway.
Conversations also turned toward the future of Delta Sig in the Boise region. Attendees expressed strong interest in strengthening alumni involvement, supporting the Boise State chapter through mentoring, and laying the groundwork for a fully established alumni chapter. Those in the room agreed that Boise is poised for growth as a Delta Sig community, and that this gathering should become an annual tradition.
The Gamma Iota alumni in attendance set an ambitious target for the Founders Day Campaign, aiming to raise at least 7,500 dollars from 50 donors. With the energy in the room and the inspiration drawn from the national vision, members left confident that the goal is well within reach.
The Boise celebration underscored what Founders Day represents at its core: the power of coming together, honoring our shared history, and committing to a stronger future for the Fraternity and its members.
