Delta Sigma Phi’s commitment to career readiness and personal growth continues to evolve with the launch of a new initiative through BravenX, a nationally recognized program focused on preparing college students for strong first jobs and long-term success. This spring, the Delta Sigma Phi Foundation fully sponsored two undergraduate members—Jackson Campbell, Northern Colorado ‘23, and JJ Mendez Lopez, California, Berkeley ‘24,—to participate in the semester-long BravenX fellowship.
For a Fraternity that prides itself as one of the best leadership fraternities and the best career advancement fraternities in the nation, the BravenX partnership represents a meaningful step in giving our members the tools they need to succeed beyond college. And for Jackson and JJ, the experience was nothing short of transformative.
The BravenX fellowship blends weekly coursework, leadership development, and a capstone project in a real-world professional setting. Fellows collaborate in diverse teams from across the country and work directly with nonprofit or business partners to solve tangible challenges.
For JJ Mendez Lopez, the project involved reimagining the digital presence of the Chicago Sky Foundation to improve its outreach to small businesses and community members.
“Our group noticed their website didn’t offer much for small businesses to interact with,” JJ explained. “So we’re building new tabs, search tools, and content that will actually support local businesses and help the Foundation have a deeper community impact.”
As prototype lead for his team, JJ learned to manage remote collaboration and adapt to different communication styles—a key skillset in today’s global workforce.
Everyone was from different backgrounds, and we had different approaches,” he said. “We had to really listen, learn from each other, and start over a few times to get it right. But that’s what leadership is—it’s about the process, not just the result.

The BravenX curriculum is intentionally structured in phases, starting with professional self-awareness and goal setting, progressing through concrete tools like resumes and cover letters, and ending with a team-based capstone experience.
“Honestly, I was surprised at how personalized and practical the program was,” said Jackson Campbell, who also serves as vice president of his chapter and is involved in ROTC. “They didn’t just tell us how to make a resume. They had experts come in and give mock interviews. I got feedback from real professionals in the field. It felt like I was being invested in.”
Through career coaching sessions and weekly assignments, Jackson found himself not just better prepared for the job market—but more confident in what he brings to the table.
I’ve always been ambitious, but BravenX made me feel like I could apply for roles I might’ve thought were out of reach. I have the tools now—the resume, the interview prep, even my LinkedIn is stronger. I feel like I’m already ahead.

The BravenX Fellowship is made possible through the generosity of donors to the Delta Sigma Phi Foundation, who believe in investing in members’ futures, not just as students, but as leaders in their fields.
“This isn’t just another resume-building experience,” said Andrew Thomas, Director of Membership Experience. “It’s a mission-aligned investment. We’re helping our members become Better Men by giving them real opportunities to lead, collaborate, and grow professionally.”
The Braven X partnership advances Delta Sigma Phi’s strategic pillar of launching careers by equipping members with the mindsets, skills, and networks essential for long-term professional success. Through this experience, students strengthen their career confidence, build relationships with mentors and peers, and develop the leadership competencies employers seek—deepening our commitment to both career development and building meaningful relationships that extend beyond college.
As Jackson put it: “ROTC, the Fraternity, and now BravenX, they all work together. I don’t know who I’d be without that combination. They’ve each taught me different lessons about leading, serving, and setting goals.”
JJ echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the value of expanding his network beyond campus: "You’re not just meeting people from your chapter or school—you’re working with peers and coaches from across the country. It opened my eyes to what’s possible."
Both Jackson and JJ are enthusiastic about encouraging other Delta Sig undergraduates to apply for future rounds of the BravenX Fellowship.
“If you want to develop your leadership and professional skills, this is the place to start,” Jackson said. “It’s free, it’s hands-on, and it actually helps you figure out what’s next.”
JJ agreed, adding that the experience gave him tools he didn’t even know he was missing: “I went from using a basic resume template to really knowing how to market myself to employers. Plus, our project with the Chicago Sky Foundation is something I’m genuinely proud of.”
Applications for the next BravenX cohort are now open. Apply now—spots are limited.
