This April, the Epsilon Phi chapter at East Carolina University (ECU) had a weekend celebration to commemorate the chapter’s 50th anniversary. Originally founded in 1971, the chapter felt fortunate to finally be able to bring together generations of brothers for this special occasion in Greenville, North Carolina.
Brothers from across the country gathered to reconnect, celebrate their shared bond, and create new memories together. Among them was Daryl Crouse, East Carolina ’90, who made the journey from Los Angeles in a car wrapped in Nile green just for the occasion. Executive Director Phil Rodriguez, Illinois State ‘03, also flew in to celebrate this milestone. He presented a plaque recognizing the chapter’s 50th anniversary, commending the ACB and undergraduate members on the chapter’s turnaround and challenging them to keep pressing forward in all of their endeavors.
Highlights from the weekend included activities such as golf, clay shooting, and fishing. The undergraduates also hosted their Dad’s Weekend festivities during the celebration, so they were able to bring their dads along to many of the activities, which was a special chance for all of them to bond.
The weekend concluded with a banquet on Saturday, April 26, which Brother Joe Prys ‘85 was proud to emcee. The banquet included reflections and memories shared by alumni from many eras, and even a speech from John Mountz, director of student engagement at ECU. He spoke of the importance of Greek Life on campus and how it remains vital for the campus community. Finally, Brother Jeff Prys ‘85 received the chapter’s Outstanding Alumni Award.
Congratulations to the Epsilon Phi chapter on 50 excellent years! The Fraternity looks forward to seeing its members, active and alumni alike, continue to live out Delta Sigma Phi’s values in every way.
