Delta Sigma Phi is proud to announce that two members have been selected to receive the North American Interfraternity Conference’s 2026 Awards of Distinction, among the highest individual honors in the fraternity experience.
Preston Briggs, UCLA '84, received the Advisor Award of Distinction, recognizing his exceptional service and leadership as an advisor to the Beta Gamma Chapter at UCLA. Dominic Mancini, Boise State '23, earned the Undergraduate Award of Distinction, honoring his impact as a student leader at Boise State University and throughout the fraternity community.
Presented annually, the NIC Awards of Distinction recognize fraternity men, advisors, and organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership, service, and commitment to strengthening the fraternity experience.
For Delta Sigma Phi, the recognition highlights the impact members are making both on campus and long after graduation.
Dominic Mancini, Boise State '23, Recognized for Campus Leadership
Since joining the Iota Theta Chapter at Boise State University, Dominic Mancini has taken on several leadership roles within both Delta Sigma Phi and the university's Interfraternity Council.
Mancini has served as Chapter Sergeant-at-Arms, Interfraternity Council Chief Justice, and currently as Interfraternity Council President. Throughout those roles, he has focused on building stronger relationships between fraternity members, university administrators, and community partners.
As Chief Justice, he helped reshape how accountability is approached within Boise State's fraternity community, emphasizing proactive responsibility, collaboration, and growth rather than reactive discipline. That work led to the development of a Party Registration System created in partnership with the Boise Police Department and university leadership.
The system established a framework for communication and accountability that has strengthened relationships between fraternities, the university, and local law enforcement while helping chapters address concerns before they become larger issues.
His efforts have earned recognition beyond Boise State. Earlier this year, Mancini was selected as the sole undergraduate recipient of the Marilyn Ford Change Maker Award at the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values West Conference. The Boise State Interfraternity Council also received the Dr. Will Keim Change Maker Program Award for its implementation of the Party Registration System.
While the recognition is significant, Mancini remains focused on the impact fraternity can have on individual lives and communities.
"I want people to leave this community better than they came into it," he said.
Preston Briggs, UCLA '84, Honored for Years of Service
For more than six years, Preston Briggs has served as a consistent advisor and supporter to the Beta Gamma Chapter at UCLA.
As Lead Advisor, Briggs has helped guide the chapter through sustained growth while supporting strategic planning efforts that provide continuity and direction for future generations of members. His leadership has helped strengthen both the undergraduate and alumni experience, creating opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and meaningful engagement.
A key part of Briggs' impact has been his ability to connect alumni and undergraduate members. Through those relationships, he has helped expand the support network available to students while reinforcing a culture of shared responsibility and lifelong involvement.
His commitment to the chapter has remained steady regardless of circumstance, including during his service as a dentist in the United States Navy. Whether supporting undergraduate leaders, advising the alumni corporation board, or engaging fellow alumni, Briggs has consistently invested his time and expertise in the success of the chapter.
Briggs' contributions have previously been recognized within Delta Sigma Phi when he was named Chapter Advisor of the Year. The NIC Advisor Award of Distinction further recognizes the lasting impact of his leadership and service.
Recognition Across the Fraternity Experience
The NIC Awards of Distinction recognize individuals who make a meaningful difference within the fraternity community through leadership, service, and dedication to others. This year's recipients from Delta Sigma Phi represent that impact in different ways, from undergraduate leadership on campus to years of steadfast chapter support.
While their contributions have taken different forms, both Briggs and Mancini have helped strengthen the fraternity experience for those around them. Their recognition by the North American Interfraternity Conference reflects the positive impact of that work.
Congratulations to Preston Briggs and Dominic Mancini on this well-deserved honor.
