OSHKOSH, WI – It was a festive atmosphere as Delta Sigma Phi-Epsilon Beta members attended multiple events and celebrated significant chapter anniversaries/accomplishments as part of this year’s University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Homecoming.

The three-day event featured the recognition of the 60th anniversary of the chapter’s founding in 1964, the 40th anniversary of its rechartering in 1984, and the 125th -anniversary of the 1899 founding of Delta Sigma Phi national fraternity.

A strong contingent of nearly 30 DSP-EB brothers, including national Executive Director Phil Rodriguez (Illinois State ’03) and former national President Tom Cycota (Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ’77), were on hand at a gala dinner on Friday, October 18 where John Close (Wisconsin-Oshkosh ’72) was presented the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Distinguished
Alumni Award.

The highest honor UW-O can present to a graduate, Close is the seventh DSP-EB brother to be selected for the award joining previous winners Scott Bucklin (’97), Ron Schreier (’12), Victor Alatorre (’13), Jerry Gonyo (’20), Chuck Christburg (’22), and Jim Rath (’22).

Approximately 150 people attended the Saturday, October 19 DSP-EB Homecoming event at the chapter fraternity house located at 555 Algoma Avenue in Oshkosh. Included in the attendees were six members of the original 1964 founding class and several 1984 rechartering brothers.

Multiple awards were also presented throughout the day with Doug DeRosier (’91) and Close the latest two brothers to be enshrined in the Epsilon Beta chapter ‘Hall of Fame.’ Current chapter members Fulton Clusman (’22) and Kannon Kaminski (’22) were presented Outstanding Active Awards and checks of $500, while alumni members Patrick Minskey (’90), Doug DeRosier, Chuck Christburg, and Jerry Gonyo were presented DSP 1899 Silver Dollar Awards.

Several Epsilon Beta members closed out the memorable UW-O Homecoming weekend on Sunday, October 20 as guests of the Green Bay Packers attending the National Football League game in Lambeau Field where the Packers beat the Houston Texans, 24-22.

Plans for the 2025 UW-O academic calendar year are already underway at Delta Sigma Phi–Epsilon Beta including a May 5 celebration to honor the 60th-anniversary date of the 1964 chartering of the chapter. The premiere event of the year will again be centered around UW-Oshkosh Homecoming and the now traditional brotherhood reunion at the chapter fraternity house on October 17-18.
