Jim Rath Receives 2022 Outstanding Service Award

Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity is excited to announce that Brother Jim Rath will receive an Outstanding Service Award at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh this fall at their 2022 Alumni Awards Celebration. Jim is the second person to receive this award, which will be given as a part of the University’s homecoming celebration and is given to acknowledge his exemplary contributions to UW-Oshkosh through volunteer efforts, energy, leadership, support and/or philanthropic donations impacting the university.

The retired account executive has dedicated countless hours to volunteering in his community, including his work with the Wisconsin Special Olympics Sport Management committee for basketball, which he has been involved with for 25 years. Jim has also served as president and treasurer of the Alumni Association Board at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and as president of the Village of Sherwood, Wis.

During his time as an undergraduate, Brother Rath served the Epsilon Beta Chapter as president and his fraternal community as IFC president. He has described these experiences as playing a key role in the development of his servant leadership.

Jim remains active in Delta Sigma Phi as a national and local volunteer, a member of the Foundation’s 1899 Society, and a 2009 recipient of the Harvey H. Hebert Award. His wife, Sharon, is also very supportive of Jim’s involvement in Delta Sigma Phi. They also have two sons who are young alumni of the fraternity! He is proud of Jerry Gonyo, who was the inaugural recipient of this award last year, and Jim gives lots of credit to his big brother Chuck Christburg.

Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity is proud of the selfless service that Jim has shown to his university community. Congratulations to Brother Rath!
