In Overland Park, Kansas, Jesse Plous, Kansas ’06, is harnessing cutting-edge technology to transform aviation and agriculture while creating unforgettable moments for his community. As the founder of an aerial application business specializing in drone technology, Jesse exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit and drive that define Delta Sigma Phi brotherhood.

Jesse’s journey began at the University of Kansas, where he helped re-establish the Delta Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi as a founding father. A proud Jayhawk, Jesse balanced his leadership in the Fraternity with serving as the university’s mascot “Big Jay” for three years. Reflecting on his undergraduate experience, Jesse notes, “Of the few brothers I still talk to, they’ve become lifelong friends and business partners.” he shares.

Today, Jesse’s passion for innovation and leadership has culminated in a business that’s redefining agricultural practices. Using FAA-certified pilots and state-of-the-art drones weighing over 100 pounds, Jesse’s company, CropGuard Aero Drones, specializes in precision crop spraying for medium to small farms, vineyards, orchards, greenhouses and more in Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri. These drones not only maximize crop yields but also bring drone technology to the urban landscape, dazzling residents with creative aerial displays—from gender reveals to patriotic flyovers.

For Jesse, his work is about more than just agriculture. “This opportunity has given me the chance to do more with my pilots license helping my neighbors and Farmers be more successful with the property they have,” he says. “I hope my story inspires my Delta Sig brothers to explore aviation and this emerging aviation sub-industry.”

Jesse is eager to give back to the Brotherhood that shaped his entrepreneurial spirit. As his company scales, he’s exploring internship opportunities for Delta Sigma Phi members, hoping to ignite a passion for flying and innovation in future generations.

Outside of work, Jesse is a devoted husband of 10 years to his childhood sweetheart and a proud father to his young son. His story is a testament to the enduring impact of brotherhood and the transformative power of pursuing your passions.
