Position Summary

The Director of Housing for the newly created Delta Sigma Phi National Housing Corporation

will serve as the primary leader for the organization on all housing-related initiatives.

This individual will possess critical strategic leadership skills to help provide the necessary

educational support, training and vision to better support the Delta Sigma Phi organization on all

housing initiatives. This will include regular interaction and engagement with the Housing Board

of Directors and on the senior leadership team of the organization.

 

In addition to strategic needs, the Director will ultimately serve as the property manager,

providing complete oversight of real and personal property for Delta Sigma Phi National

Housing Corporation-managed facilities. In addition, the Director will provide oversight,

education, and resources to manage local House Corporations and Alumni Chapter Boards

independently.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure facilities maintain up-to-date inspections and comply with all safety and code requirements.
  • Work with Insurance Broker to ensure all owned and leased properties are appropriately insured and promote services to all housed Chapters.
  • Work with Third Party Management company to ensure appropriate contract verbiage,
  • approved budgets, and general management concerns are addressed.
  • Work directly with National Housing Corporation Board to define goals and objectives
  • and ensure properly informed.
  • Monitor monthly financial performance on facilities to ensure that financial goals and
  • budgets are met.
  • Assist with monthly accounting tasks specific to the National Housing Corporation.
  • Coordinate the opening and closing of managed facilities at the beginning and end of the
  • academic year.
  • Work with Delta Sigma Phi Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer on
  • coordination of renovation projects for assigned facilities.
  • Be the primary contact for assigned facilities for collegiate officers, advisors, and Universities.
  • Monitor occupancy of Delta Sig facilities, including collaborating and following up with collegiate officers and advisors to ensure housing agreements are out and collected by the established deadline.
  • Create training tools, programs, manuals, webinars and in-person training sessions for housing volunteers as assigned.
  • Lead in-person training sessions and webinars for housing volunteers as assigned.
  • Facilitate communication and cooperation between local house corporation boards, collegiate chapters, and advisory boards.
  • Answer housing questions from volunteers, members, and parents.
  • Manage the collection of Housing Reports from independently managed house corporation board officers.
  • Keep informed of developments in Greek housing and use information to help the Fraternity operate with initiative and innovation. This may include attendance at relevant collegiate housing seminars and/or campus housing meetings.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Travel to managed facilities one or two times per year and more frequently during renovations or as needed. Travel time is 30% of the job and happens throughout the United States. Overnight travel will likely be required.
  • Use discretion on matters of significance including fielding e-mails and calls requesting assistance with projects, repairs, maintenance, and routine operations.

  • 10+ years of Property and housing experience
  • Four-year college degree
  • Major or background in university housing, property management, finance, law, human resources, real estate or other related field preferred
  • Property management experience preferred
  • Vendor management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of: significant issues related to property management, insurance, and risk management; contract law; and Greek or University housing systems.
  • Proficient on Google platform
  • Independent and innovative thinking, including the ability to make decisions and willingness to take and accept responsibility.
